Asus PadFone 2 Launched: Quad-core, 4.7-inch, NFC,


Bangalore: Asus launched the successor of PadFone - the PadFone 2 in Taiwan on October 16, 2012 at an event held at Milan. The new device from Asus is slimmer than its predecessor PadFone which got released in Indian just few days back.

This hybrid tablet from Asus lived up to all the leaked specification over the past few weeks. The gigantic smartphone comes with a 4.7 inch Super IPS+ panel which supports a resolution of 1,280 X 800 pixels. The smartphone is powered by quite a fast 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor backed by 2GB of RAM and functions on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. But the company says that the device would soon get an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system.

The gadget is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 1.2 mega pixel front facing camera that would allow the user to make video calls. You have to use a micro SIM card as the regular sized ones are not compactable.

The PadFone 2 Tablet sports a 10.1 inch IPS touch screen which supports a resolution of 1,280 X 800 pixels. The company has made a change in the battery, which was 6,600 mAh earlier has been brought down to 5,000 mAh battery.

The gadget would be available in the Taiwan market by next week and the rest of the world; Asia and Europe would get the gadget by the year end. The company hasn’t confirmed anything with regards to the pricing but rumors point to the fact that the 32 GB model might have a price tag of 55,000 and the 64 GB would cost 63,000.
