Asus Launched PadFone in India for 64,999

Bangalore: Asus has released a unique 3-in-1 device which can act as a smartphone-cum-tablet-cum- netbook. In the standalone state the PadFone is an Android smartphone which is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system.

When the PadFone is docked to the unique PadFone Station it gets transformed to a 10.1-inch tablet. The PadFone also comes with a dockable full-size keypad which can be docked to the PadFone Station to have a notebook like experience.

When the smartphone is hooked with the PadFone Station the battery life gets boosted by 63 hours and when the already hooked PadFone Station is docked with the detachable keypad the overall battery life extends to up to 104 hours. The clubbing of PadFone Station gives the users access to multiple ports like Card Reader and USB ports.

The PadFone sports a 4.3-inch display having 960×540 pixel resolution, an 8 megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, 1GB memory and all the needed connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS. The PadFone Station features a 10.1-inch display having 1280×800 pixel resolution, 8 megapixel back camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 6,600 mAh battery, two USB 2.0 ports and a memory card reader slot.

Merging three devices into one is a whole new concept in the gadget world and it’s pretty amusing. But few hindering facts which surrounds this device is, firstly its huge price tag, secondly the tablet sized PadFone Station is completely useless without the PadFone and thirdly the Android market akka Google Play recognizes PadFone as a smartphone and not as a tablet therefore when the PadFone becomes a tablet the apps will not be tablet-optimized.
