Apple Rumored to Launch iWatch this Q3: Report


BANGALORE: Apple is rumored to launch iWatch in Q3 this year, reports China times. According to the report, the iWatch is expected to hit the market by the second half of this year, maybe with the iPhone 6 in September or with the next gen iPad in October. The report has also said that apple has asked the suppliers to start delivering the orders in august, so that Apple can deliver its iWatch according to its own schedule.

Apparently, Apple has already ordered for the production of about 3-4 million units of the rumored iWatch for the Q2 and will increase the production to 14-15 million units, said the report.

iWatch is, supposedly, packed with  System-in-Package (SiP) modules instead of printed circuit boards;, the modules for the iWatch are going to be supplied by Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp, NanyaPCB and ASE Group. According to the report, however the iWatch is expected to have a 200–250 mAh battery, a curved AMOLED display, a DRAM, a processor and a flash storage. The chip for the iWatch is said to be developed by Ritchtek. Other features of the iWatch are going to be Biometric recognition, Wireless charging and NFC. The iWatch is going to have sensors which can detect a person’s heart rate and blood pressure.  This device is going to be more of a fitness device. It is also said that iWatch will have many models and the high-end models will be having a high price. Some models are expected to reach up to a cost of $1000.

Apple iWatch is going to face a tough competition in the market as many companies have already introduced smartwatches. Its major rivals are going to be Samsung Smartgear, Samsung gear fit, LG G2, Motorola 360 and pebble steel.
