After Apple, Xiaomi Launches Insurance Plan for its Smartphones

BENGALURU: Yet another brilliant move by Xiaomi to up its sales in the Indian market. Today, the company has launched Mi Protect, a service for Mi Smartphone and tablet users in India, according to bgr.in.

Xiaomi is all set to launch its new Mi Protect insurance service plans that will cover Mi devices in case of accidental and liquid damage and also offers free home pickup and drop and free second servicing within 1 year from activation. These plans will be priced at 275 for Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime Smartphones and it will cost 499 for Mi 4i, Mi 4 and Mi Pad.

Xiaomi also offers the service via its exclusive service centers in pricing. Xiaomi Redmi 1s, Redmi 2, and Redmi 2 Prime users will have to pay 425, Redmi Note 4G users have to pay 549, Mi 4 will have to pay 899 for the 16GB variant, 999 for the 64GB variant, and Mi 4i and Mi 3 users will have to pay 749.

Insurance will be covered if the damage to the phone is caused by Falling, Extrusion, Collision or Liquid if the device is under protection and the request is raised within the specified period of time, said Xiaomi. After the request is raised through toll free number (1800 407 333 333, 1800 123 3330 or 0 8080 333 333), OneAssist team will verify if the damage is genuine and is covered under these scenarios before picking it up.
