Acer Unviles Touchscreen Windows 8 Ultrabooks

Bangalore: One day before the official start of Computex-2012, Acer has announced the release of S7 series of Windows 8 Ultrabooks with 11.6-Inch and 13.3-Inch touch screens. At last year’s Computex, Intel promised all the gadget buffs that they would start working on ultrabook concept. And the promise seems to be well kept with all the present and upcoming ultrabooks from different manufacturers.

Inspired from the slim Macbook Air, the new S7 series ultrabooks has a sleek aluminum metallic unibody design. The sleek and minimal looks make the ultrabooks attractive and classy. Both the ultrabooks claim to have a long battery life. The 13.3-inch model boasts of battery life of 12 hours and the 11.6-inch model can last for up to 9 hours.

With the implementation of the technology of Twin Air Cooling System, Acer has tried to address the problem of overheating. The Series has an interesting feature of light-sensing keyboard, which automatically detects changes in lighting conditions and adjusts the keyboard backlight brightness.

Both the ultrabooks can be opened up to 180 degrees which makes using the touch screen feature easier. But surprisingly it misses out on the 360 degree fold up like the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga.

Apart from these details Acer has neither released the price of the ultrabook nor the processor.  The devices will be out in the market when Windows 8 is released, so we can expect them to hit the stores towards the end of the year.

The company has also unveiled two new innovative Windows 8 tablets which will be showcased at the event.
