#2 BlackBerry Bold 9000

By May 2008, a new family to the world: the Bold, starting with the BlackBerry Bold 9000. The family is known for its distinctive form factor; efficient, finger-friendly QWERTY keyboard, typical BlackBerry messaging capabilities with a distinctive, more premium keyboard than the Curve series.

BB Bold 9000 was the first to support the higher HSDPA data speeds offered by network operators. The device supported both 2G Network, 3G Network and included Wi-Fi.

The display was 65K colors with resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inches screen. Under the hood it carried 1 GB internal storage, with microSD slot to expand memory up to 8GB and had 128 MB RAM.

It had a 2MP rear camera with LED flash, ran on BlackBerry OS, powered by 624 MHz processor.

However, while it had the specs, investor sentiment was unsettled — RIM's share price suffered a small decline from $139 in May to around $122 at the end of August 2008, as the impact of Apple's disturbance of the smartphone market began to take effect and the desire for new touchscreen form factors took hold.
