3. Apple Thought of Calling iPhone, ‘iPad’

Before Apple decided to call their phone as iPhone there were many other names which was considered and out them one name was ‘iPad’. This fact was stated in a book named ‘Insanely Simple’ by Ken Segall, who worked with Steve Jobs for producing advertisements for Apple products.

 

4. ‘iPhone’ Name was Originally Trademarked by Cisco

When Apple decided to call their phone ‘iPhone’, there came one problem; the ‘iPhone’ name was already trademarked by Cisco.

The book ‘Inside Apple’ written by Adam Lashinsky describes how Jobs forced Cisco’s Chief Development Officer, Charles Giancarlo to give away the rights for the name and offered nothing in return.

When Cisco didn’t agree, Apple anyhow decided to launch the phone with ‘iPhone’ name and the next day Cisco sued Apple. But within a week Jobs managed to make Cisco step back.
