7. No App Store in Original iPhone, Jobs Hated Third Party Developers
The original iPhone was launched without the App store. It’s not because Apple hadn’t thought about it, it’s just that Steve Jobs didn’t wanted to deal with third party developer.
Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs mentions that “Jobs didn't want outsiders to create applications for the iPhone that could mess it up, infect it with viruses or pollute its integrity,". But there were constant pressure from other Apple executives in this direction. When the iPhone was finally launched Jobs became more willing to discuss stuffs related to this and his agreeing marked one more huge success for Apple in the name of iTunes.
