Selena Marie Gomez is an actress and singer by profession. She is best known for her character of Alex Russo in the Disney Channel television series - ‘Wizards of Waverly Place.’ She has also acted in some television movies like ‘Another Cinderella Story,’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie’ and ‘Princess Protection Program.’

She is the founder of the pop band ‘Selena Gomez & the Scene,’ for which she is the lead singer. She started her acting career at age seven by playing Gianna in a kid oriented show ‘Barney and Friends.’ She won the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite TV Actress for her movie ‘Another Cinderella Story.’ Gomez was designated a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2008.
