Microsoft Invests $1.5 Billion in UAE's G42 AI Firm

Microsoft has declared a substantial $1.5 billion investment in G42, an AI technology firm headquartered in the UAE. The collaboration aims to fortify the deployment of Microsoft's latest AI technologies and educational initiatives across the UAE and beyond.
In addition to the investment, both entities pledge to establish a $1 billion fund dedicated to supporting developers. Brad Smith, Microsoft's Vice Chair and President, will assume a role on G42's Board of Directors, consolidating the partnership's governance structure.
H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, G42's Chairman, hailed the partnership as a reflection of shared values and aspirations for global advancement. Collaboratively, G42 and Microsoft intend to extend their reach to countries in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa, empowering them with advanced AI and digital infrastructure.
Smith emphasized their commitment to not only serving the UAE but also extending AI and digital services to underprivileged nations. The partnership aims to merge cutting-edge technology with robust standards for safe, trustworthy, and ethical AI, fostering close collaboration with the UAE and US governments.
