Tracking Terror Funds in Stock Markets: Shinde

New Delhi: Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on November 10 that terrorist groups were putting money in the stock markets and the government was keeping track of it.

Talking to reporters here, Shinde said the government had information that terrorist groups were operating in the stock markets from outside the country also.

"We have information that they have been putting money in stock exchanges, stock markets," Shinde said.

"We always keep track of it," he added. However, he refused to share the details, saying that it will not be proper to disclose the names. "As and when action is taken", you would know, he said.

Shinde had said at an Interpol General Assembly meeting in Rome earlier this week that terrorist outfits were investing in the Indian stock market.

The minister cited credible intelligence inputs and said that terrorist outfits were investing in stock markets through spurious companies, setting up fictitious businesses and laundering money. He had called upon the Interpol to play a crucial role in helping India tackle the issue.
