Sensex up in early trade


Mumbai: A benchmark index for Indian equities markets rose in early trade Thursday along with broader market indices. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 18,741.1 points, was ruling at 18,795.82 points, up 101.96 points or 0.55 percent from its previous close at 18,693.86 points. The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the green at 5,365.1 points, up 0.62 percent. Broader markets too saw moderate gains with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.52 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index up 0.48 percent.
