Sensex Trades 68 Points Down In Afternoon Session


MUMBAI: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index, was trading 67.93 points, or 0.28 percent, lower during the afternoon session on Wednesday.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 10.80 points, or 0.14 percent lower at 7,474.50 points.

The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 24,527.27 points, was trading at 24,591.30 points (at 01.26 p.m.) in the afternoon session down 67.93 points, or 0.28 percent from the previous day's close at 24,659.23 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 24,639.86 points and a low of 24,451.60 points in the trade so far.

Sector-wise, the S&P BSE metal index dropped by 1.84 percent, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) slipped by 1.13 percent and consumer durables index went down by 0.93 percent.
