Sensex Closes At 285 Points


MUMBAI: A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed Friday's trade 284.56 points or 1.10 percent down.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 82.40 points or 1.05 percent down at 7,761.95 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at  25,764.67 points , provisionally closed at 25,519.22 points (at 3.59 p.m.) down 284.56 points or 1.10 percent from the previous day's close at  25,803.78 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 25,789.51 points and a low of 25,481.51 points in the intra-day trade.
