Rupee Jumps To 65.90 On Sustained Dollar Selling

Mumbai: The rupee advanced by 10 paise to 65.90 against the dollar in early trade today on sustained selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.

Forex dealers said a strong opening in the domestic equity market supported the rupee, but the dollar’s strength against other currencies overseas capped the gains.

The rupee had firmed up by 10 paise to 66 against the dollar in yesterday’s trade on fag-end selling of the American currency by banks and exporters on the back of lower greenback in the overseas market.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 156.91 points or 0.6 percent to 25,917.01 in early trade.
