3,033,087 Crore! 28 Indian States Scoring Big In Tax Revenues


Bangalore:  India, which was once considered as a lagging country, has been rising since the last few years. With the economic conditions getting better, plenty of foreign investors are coming forward to invest on several projects in India.

This growth has been possible after the Indian states started growing economically and the total tax revenue increased to a large extent.

The Thirteenth Finance Commission of India has forwarded the list of the tax revenues, the Indian government has gathered for the year 2010-15. However, the revenue from the Union Territories has been excluded on this list.

1. Maharashtra

451,777 crore ($83 billion)

In terms of area, Maharashtra is the third largest state and it is also the wealthiest state in India. This state is the home to three major Indian cities; Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.

While talking about the amount of revenue, the Indian government earns from Maharashtra, no other Indian state can compete with Maharashtra. Almost 40 percent of India’s national revenue is earned from this state. Maharashtra also contributes 15 percent of India’s total industrial output.
