Key Indian Equity Indices Trade Lower In Afternoon Session


MUMBAI: The key Indian equity indices were trading lower on Tuesday afternoon following muted global cues.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading 108.66 points or 0.36 per cent lower during the afternoon session.

The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 34.50 points or 0.37 per cent lower at 9,403.75 points.

The Sensex, which opened at 30,553.89 points, was trading at 30,462.31 points (at 1.04 p.m.), lower 108.66 points or 0.36 per cent from the previous day's close at 30,570.97 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 30,610.64 points and a low of 30,377.77 points in the trade so far.

"Equity benchmark Indices (Futures) started of the day on a flat note tracking muted global cues. Both Indices extended losses in early trades on selling pressure from traders. Depreciation of Indian rupee against Us Dollar in initial trades also pressurized the equity market sentimen"s," said Dhruv Desai, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Tradebulls.
