Jaitley to Unveil Karnataka's Global Investors Meet


BANGALORE: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely will inaugurate 'Invest Karnataka', the three-day global investors' meet (GIM) here February 3-5, an official said.

"Jaitley will inaugurate the GIM on February 3 at Bangalore Palace grounds in presence of other central and state ministers and dignitaries," an official told IANS here.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah personally invited Jaitley in New Delhi last month to participate in the fourth edition of the meet to showcase the southern state as a premier destination for global and domestic investors.

Among India Inc honchos, Ratan Tata, Anil Ambani, Anand Mahindra, Sajjan Jindal, N.R. Narayan Murthy, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Devi Prasad Shetty, S. Gopalakrishna, Gautam Adani and Kumar Mangalam Birla have confirmed participating in the mega event.

"Innovate in Karnataka, invent in Karnataka and invest in Karnataka is our mantra for the GIM as Karnataka is where the future is made," state Heavy Industries Minister R.V. Desphande said at a review meeting here on Monday.

Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Sweden have confirmed their participation in the meet as partner countries.

The meeting reviewed 145 projects listed sector-wise, including 48 in and around Bengaluru as they will be showcased at the event.
