How Much Dollar a Student Could Carry While Going Abroad?

1. Reducing expenses

The students studying abroad will now have to make some adjustments either in their lifestyle or compromise on their dream university or college. "You can look for cheaper educational destinations. For instance, Australia, Germany, Singapore, and Canada are some of the countries that one can consider to pursue studies. The reasons are varied like low tuition fees or low living expenses and even work permits, which make these countries appealing," said Swati Salunkhe, Managing Director with career counseling firm The Growth Centre. Few other options can be securing scholarships and tuition waivers, and completing the course sooner than its actual duration by taking up subject credits provided by universities during vacation period.

2. Strategy to fund education

Apart from scholarships, tuition waivers and subject credit, the next best way to earn and fund education is to take up part-time jobs. Foreign universities allow students to take up on-campus and off-campus part-time jobs during studying full-time course. The students can work upto 20 hours a week and have to complete few formalities to work off-campus.  The jobs vary from teaching assistantship to working in malls, gas stations and restaurants. The other options could be taking loans from banks at an interest rate of 7-8 percent in the destination country or in the extreme case taking financial help from one’s extended family.

Whatever be the rescue mechanism, the students will now have to prepare themselves for a not so comfortable living abroad.
