Budget 2014-15: Housing Loan Interest Deduction Raised By 50K


NEW DELHI: The government will raise the housing loan interest deduction limit from 150,000 to 200,000 to revive the housing sector, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said while presenting the national budget.

With a view to expand and continue rural housing in India, the government has allotted 8,000 crore for National Housing Banking programme.

Arun Jaitley also allocated 100 crore for preservation of archaeological sites.

"Archaeological sites preservation require urgent attention, lest ancient heritage is lost to future generation," Jaitley said while presenting the budget for 2014-15.

"I allocate 100 crore for this purpose," he said.

Gaya will also be developed as a world class tourism spot. Jaitley also said the country needs more world-class convention facilities.

"World class convention facility to be developed through public private partnership mode," he said. "Goa has emerged as a major international convention centre, and it has been declared as a venue for international film festival in India," he added.
