You might think that you have the list of numbers who ever is calling you and blindly trust your caller ID but in this technology era it is very easy to get a phone number with any fake identity. You never know who is on the other side of the phone. Scammers will be expert in their role and will not give you a single clue for which you can doubt them. If you are placing the call yourself the risk factor is not that high.

Until and unless you are recognizing the caller yourself, take their contact information and say that you will get back to them. This will provide you time to cross check the number and identify the source from which they might have got access to you. Verify with the company or organization if the information provided over the discussion is genuine.
