5) Scams –

The only thing worse than evading taxes is being involved in a scam. The news of scams love flying all over the newspapers. There was a time in India when only the news of corrupt politicians being involved in scams would sell. These days, the frequency seems to have lessened but not vanishes all together. We are so quick to dismiss politicians who engage in scams but very liberal and lenient with our movie-stars. Amitabh Bachchan was allegedly involved in scam of 500 crore. People might not be so stern with Big B himself but for such a dignified person, it is an undignified act. One can never know the truth about such acts because everything goes on behind locked doors. Karim Morani’s involvement in the 2G scam is another example of how star power can influence the truth of the case. Hopefully, justice will be served here. Another aspect of a scam is when a celeb is not at fault but still gets dragged in it. Larry King lost a lot of money in an insurance scam. So, not all celebs misuse the power vested in them.
