10 Richest Private Equity Moguls

Joshua Harris

Private equity investor Joshua Harris is a co-founder of buyout shop Apollo Global Management. The firm, that has $75 billion in assets under management, went public in March 2011. Last fall, the NBA approved Comcast-Spectator's sale of the Philadelphia 76ers to a group of investors led by Harris. A graduate of UPenn, who also has family in the area, Harris said at the time that he "always felt a strong connection to this City and the 76ers." Harris formed Apollo with his former M&A boss at Drexel Burnham Lambert, Leon Black, and another colleague, Marc Rowan, after Drexel collapsed in 1990. He and the other partners didn't sell shares at the time of last year's IPO but did cash out some of their stake back in 2007, when CALPERS and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority investment. He is ranked at 804 and his net worth is around $1.6 billion.
