Souza made his money by building homes, especially for low-income Brazilians by founding MRV Engenharia & Participacoes, which is the third biggest Brazilian construction and real estate company. The company is headquartered in Belo Horizonte. Souza owns 32 percent of the company. The economic indicators which influenced him the most are the S&P 500 and the US dollar versus the real exchange rate.
