Kirk is known as one of the wealthiest individual in Virginia, U.S.  with a net worth of $700 million. Randal J. Kirk is the Senior Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Third Security, LLC, an investment management firm founded by Kirk. After graduating from Dublin High School, Kirk worked by selling cars and motorcycles. Since he was passionate of having his own business, Kirk decided to enroll for business courses at Radford University.  He later earned a B.A. in Economics from Radford University. He then later enrolled himself into law courses where he began his eleven year practice of law in Bland County, Virginia—where he was the only attorney. His biggest deal was way back in 2007 when he sold his co-founded Pharmaceutical Company, New River Pharmaceuticals for $2.6 billion— out of that deal, he got $1.2 billion for himself.
