School of IT was formerly known as IIIT Calcutta (Indian Instiute of Information Technology).
The School consists of the twin Departments of “Computer Science & Engineering” and “Information Technology” of the University.

School of IT - A Dept of WBUT, established by the Government is conceived to be an apex institute for education, training and research. Its vision is to serve as a catalyst and agent of change to steer the State of West Bengal towards integration with the global network society in the new milleniumThe School aims at becoming a Centre of Excellence in teaching and research as well as a nodal centre to act as an Academic Staff College for training teaching personnel for Engineering and Technological Institutions.
