Pratt & Whitney builds facility for underprivileged girls

Hyderabad, Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp, and its supplier partners have donated $113,000 (about Rs.67.05 lakh) to construct a residential building for underprivileged girls in Hyderabad.

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, contributed $20,000 in addition to United Technologies Corp's contribution of $45,000 to build the 6,000 square-foot facility in cooperation with the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust (KGNMT).

The facility, inaugurated at Hydershakote, comprises furnished dormitories, a study centre, e-learning centre and playground.

The residence will provide local, elementary-age girls in need with a modern home and study resources to help them excel in their education, said a company statement.
