Amidst all the fun & frolic, the advent of winter breeze brings along diseases like common cold, influenza, strep throat, pneumonia, and many oth-ers. It is extremely necessary to opt for foods that help you keep your immune system strong and away from the viruses that are more likely to spread during this season. Winter season is considered to be most playful yet dan-gerous due to its effects on our respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Winter-related ills take the deadliest toll. According to a recent study, over 1500 people die every year across country due to adverse affects of the winter season. It is of utmost importance to take care of the daily dietary regime to keep-up with the changing weather. Adopting healthy eating habits can help prevent a lot of diseases and build stronger immunity. Long nights and lower temperature increases the temp-tation of comfort food during winters. While it becomes dif-ficult to resist the urge when you are hungry between the meals, it is recommended to have a cup of homemade vege-table soup or a bowl of stewed fruits to fill the gap. Human body undergoes a lot of changes in this season like changes in metabolism rate, eating habits and energy levels; and diet full of nutrition helps in staying healthy. Unwanted changes in the texture of the skin during win-ters are not easy to get rid of. Hence, it is always recom-mended to make changes in the dietary intake. One must avoid the excessive intake of alcohol, salty foods, refined carbohydrate and foods that are high in vitamin A.When temperature drops, skin often becomes dry & rough, which causes further skin problems. However, it is easy to keep dry-ness and roughness at bay with healthy foods that are packed with nutrients to keep the skin hydrated, smooth, supple and wrinkle-free. Vitamin C & zinc also play a pivotal role in the functioning of enzymes that keep collagen denser, which in-turn allows for plump, hydrated skin. For example, eggs with yolk, nuts, beans, kiwi, papaya, carrot, broccoli, spin-ach, and others can make your skin look naturally healthy. During winter, just like skin, scalp and hair become dry which results in dandruff and hair-fall problems. Even af-ter using the best of anti-dandruff/anti-hair fall shampoos, undergoing parlour treatments and medications it becomes difficult to cope-up with these problems. Scalp dryness in WAshish Verma
