APRIL 20194Recognized to be one of the most stable and urbanized region in the country, Tamil Nadu is among India's fastest-growing states primarily because of its strong infrastructure. The state, as per industry experts, has the potential to become a preferred destination for investments and manufacturing. Through a combination of talent, technology and incentives, the state has all the elements to achieve its global ambitions of delivering world class products and services. As India's second largest software exporter, in terms of value, Tamil Nadu's growth is driven by the automotive, textile, manufacturing, biotechnology, health, energy, pharmaceutical, animation and the visual effects industries, as well as other areas of IT. In the past years, a variety of startups have dug their heels in the state with the purpose of reshaping the future of the startup ecosystem.To support them, recently, the Tamil Nadu government has released Startup and Innovation Policy 2018-23 to provide an `an enabling and innovative ecosystem' for startups registered in the state. The policy aims to make the state a `Global Innovation Hub' for startups by 2023. Further, it aims to create around 5,000 startups, including 10 global high-growth startups, a minimum of 100,000 high skilled job creation, direct and indirect, in the startup ecosystem by 2023. For the same, The Tamil Nadu government is said to set up INR 250-crore fund for start-ups. The fund will be part of the state's new startup and innovation policy. This is presumed to nurture innovation, investment in R&D, infrastructure, knowledge creation, technological development and skilled manpower, resulting in high-growth entrepreneurial ventures across the spectrum of sectors from agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, education, logistics, social sector, urban development, environment, to Fintech and ICT.Witnessing such spectacular developments and initiatives, we have come with a special edition on "10 Best Startups in Tamil Nadu".
