siliconindia | | November 20184When U.S. withdrew from the Paris Agreement, India be-came the leading pillar of strength for other nations to follow the Paris Agreement to reduce temperature by 2oC. But being a growing economy, the country is struggling to create a balance between its growth and environment. However, with the strong determination that this government is up to, and with the adoption of final National Electricity Plan, India remains on track to overachieving its `2oC-compatible' rated Paris Agreement NDC climate action targets. According to Climate Action Tracker, based on August's estimates, India could achieve part of its NDC golas - a 40 percent non-fossil-based power capacity by 2030 - as early as the end of this year, a full 12 years earlier than targeted. This means that India will have to shift significantly from coal-based power generation to renewable energy solutions like solar, wind, biomass and hydropower. The country expanded its solar-generation capacity eight times from 2,650 MW on May 2014 to over 20 GW on January 2018, which was initially targeted for 2022. On the other hand, IHS Markit claims that with 11 GW, India is set to become the second largest solar PV market in 2018, as the global demand reaches 113 GW. From solar panelled e-Boats to the floating solar power plant, India is all set to increase the use of solar energy consumption in all possible ways. Even Cochin International Airport in Kerala is setting examples for the world to follow as it is the first ever fully solar powered airport with a dedi-cated solar plant. The airport has successfully reduced the carbon footprint by over three lakh metric tonnes, equivalent to planting three million trees. While the growth of the industry has just begun, people still feel stuck within several unknown thoughts to take their first step towards leverag-ing the vastly available source of power - Sun. But helping them address this dilemma are the solar energy consultants who not just clear the cloud of doubts, but also help individuals and industries/corporates turn towards using solar energy in the most efficient way to contribute towards India's mission to check pollution. Bringing to you the story of few such consult-ants in our current issue of `10 Most Promising Solar Energy Consultants - 2018', we want to play our role in helping you contribute toward the `MISSION GREEN'.
