JUNE 20234Earlier storing up the sun's heat was a common form of heating up homes. With 300 sunny days a year, India can lead the world in solar capacity. Undoubtedly, solar power can be India's salvation. As it is the most essential form of renewable energy and cost effective one, thus, the demand is increasing day-by-day. From rural areas and remote homes to urban area and city homes, rooftop solar installation is high in demand. Switching to renewable energy is quite a challenging task but not an impossible one. To discuss and address some of these challenges, the International Energy Agency (IEA), in collaboration with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) of India, organized an online workshop titled "Unlocking the economic potential of rooftop solar energy in India" on 12 October 2020. The workshop brought together the central and state-level policy makers of India, business communities, regulators, and DISCOMs, along with international experts from Australia, Brazil, Germany and the United States. In addition, India's residential rooftop solar capacity until 31 March 2022 was mere 2,010 megawatt (MW). By the end of fiscal year 2023, it is expected cumulative residential rooftop solar capacity to reach 3,214MW, nearly a 60 percent year-on-year increase. However, Government is planning and generating good efficient steps to accelerate the growth and demand of rooftop solar installations. In the race of net-zero emissions the world has got engaged in scaling up for sustainable life where renewable energy is substituted with toxic & polluting fossil fuels. It generates less greenhouse gas emissions. Rooftop Solar not only reduces the need for land, in fact it has proved to be a crucial segment that will add significant value to the national target. As a result, states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Haryana are showing keen interest in rooftop solar as Pandemic has made the society realize that it is very important to save money and manage our expenses smartly. Thus, the increasing awareness among people has resulted in the growth of rooftop solar installations.Don't you believe sustainable life is more efficient & long lasting?
