Making a name for itself as a go-to tech hub in the country, the city has an attractive prospect as it has a massive talent pool which is of good quality and it a fairly decent infrastructure. Technology entrepreneurship culture, proximity to financial capital (Mumbai) and the active start-up communities have further played a crucial role in attracting the typical clutch of multi-billionaire investors to the city.Pune has been a hub for traditional IT for several years now and has huge offices of outsourcing majors. Besides, the city has a presence of venture capital funds such as Alacrity, while TiE Pune which is active in the city has assisted over 800 startups in the past six years through its nurture programme. Between January 2014 and September 2018, startups in Mumbai and Pune together raised a total of INR 37,700 crore--13.5 per cent of the total INR 2.7 lakh crore raised in India during the period as per KPMG reports.The Maharashtra state ministry has recently made commitment to make Pune the number one start-up hub in the country by 2020. Reportedly, The Pune Smart City Development Corporation (PSCDC) has also set up a new subsidiary, Pune Idea Factory Foundation (PIFF), to cater to the start-up needs of the city.
