During construction, NDT is used to ensure the quality of materials and joining processes during the fabrication and erection phases, and in-service NDT inspections are used to ensure that the products in use continue to have the integrity necessary to ensure their usefulness and the safety of the public. In contrast to NDT, other tests are destructive in nature and are there-fore done on a limited number of samples (lot sampling), rather than on the materials, components or assemblies actually being put into service. The prominent oil and gas industry in the Middle East--in addition to other key industries-- means that equipment and infrastructure can face extreme temperatures and heavy stress. Advanced NDT techniques are needed to ensure regulatory compliance, efficiency, and safety. The Mid-dle East retains a massive oil and gas infrastructure, which is why using cutting-edge equipment like UT scanners and phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) devices is crucial in the region. Moreover, Saudi Arabia is on the verge of becoming the largest manufacturer in the region, and the re-gion as a whole is seeing a surge in manufacturing. Manufacturing bases utilize components such as tubes, forgings, and pipes to streamline the assembly process. Eddy current ensures effective stellar heat exchanger tubing inspections, while PAUT featuring an ultrasonic paintbrush scan-ner can find deviations on forgings or pipes.Given the vastly industrialized demographics of the GCC region, it is imperative understand the areas that could use NDT services. This edi-tion brings to fore some of the most advanced NDT service providers, that are equipped to safe guard critical projects from operational hazards and others.Emmanuel Christi DasEditoreditor@siliconindia.com
