siliconindia | | December 20194 Consultants of Wholesome Industries Irrespective of the focus being strategy, operations, tax, finance, HR, or IT, business consultants are a staple of corporate life. Today, over 700,000 consulting firms provide services across virtually all aspects of business globally. From defining strategic direction to simply serving as an additional pair of hands for outsourced work, consultants have become inextricably linked to the success of most large organizations. However, if we see it geographically, over 71 percent of the Earth's surface covered by water and oceans holding over 96 percent of all the water on earth. Thus, the nature of maritime consulting tends to a truly international profession. The maritime industry has always played an important role in economic success, with maritime consultants providing the expertise to suggest better trade routes and shipping ports. These consultants play a vital role in the development of marine construction projects such as shipyards, ports, terminals and jetty's. In recent years there has been an increased focus to improve performance, energy efficiency and environmental standards. Today's marine consultants must face the growing concerns to improve air and water quality, providing innovative, smart solutions for the future of the maritime sector.Solar projects differ from standard construction projects or product purchases (like HVAC, Lighting etc) because there is a very important angle of performance linked to a payback and profitability. The dependence is on the environment and regular maintenance and it requires knowledge of the same. A solar project is a long-term commitment by an end user who puts faith in the technology, the contractor, the financial model and the government. It certainly is not the core business of the end users and it demands good due diligence. Regardless of if you are paying for the solar plant or leasing it, the risks remain in terms of its performance and simulations matching the expectations in reality. This clearly a margin calls for consultants to give that assurance. This edition focuses on those consultants that have made an impact in these two mega industries.
