siliconindia | | March 20174Crossing state boarders are a thought and a sight most of us dread of. Long queues of transport vehicles at the check post that even blocks the roads for general traffic makes passing them a more strenuous experience. My case was nothing different when last week I had to travel from Bangalore to Rameshwaram for a family trip. As the roads were blocked by heavy vehicles with no space left for even a small car to pass by, I got time to talk to some of the pilots (drivers). Interestingly, all of them were following the recent developments and regulation changes announced by the government. Most of them were looking forward to GST implementation that will bring them peace of mind and luxury of life. Most of these pilots have not even completed their higher schooling, but were too tech-savvy. Thanks to the technological evolvement that made using it a child's play. Unlike the transport vehicles in some of the developed nations that is more like a home in itself, Indian transport vehicles still meet just the necessary requirements like GPS. But in the recent times, huge interest is being poured by various automobile companies to manufacture vehicles loaded with features that will provide Indian pilots a better and comfortable experience. With increasing demand of logistics, the laws are also strengthening against pollution. Technology too is helping logistics and supply chain companies to get a solution that will help achieve sustainable supply chain balancing social, economic, business and environment objectives. On the other hand, logistics companies are using analytics and advanced machine learning to derive meaningful insights from the passive and unorganized data to be able to make business decisions. Understanding that there is a huge scope the logistics industry beholds, there are several companies that have joined the bandwagon to proffer valuable technological products and services, whether it is for the pilots or for the logistics company or any particular segment of this industry. Understanding the need, we at siliconindia dedicate our current issue to the companies who are engrossed in creating the best product/service that will fit into the requirements of the industry.
