This growth is in response to the alarming rise in chronic kidney disease, driven by the increasing prev-alence of diabetes, hypertension, and other lifestyle-related con-ditions. With increased numbers of people advancing to end-stage kidney failure, there has never been high levels of life-saving transplants. This has subsequently resulted in the introduction of advanced transplant procedure such as robotic-assisted surgeries and kidney paired donation (KPD) which have transformed the transplant processes and extended donor eligibility. This change is being fuelled further by the developing healthcare system in India and the increasing popularity of medical tourism, with the number of skilled practitioners increasing accordingly. Special-ized training programs and improved surgical technologies have endowed a new generation of transplant surgeons to perform highly complex procedures with greater precision and improved outcomes.However, despite these advancements, several challenges persist. Transplants are still backlogged due to organ shortages, and region-to-region inequality put components of equitable care out of reach of thousands of patients due to financial struggles and restricted resources.
