AUGUST 20184An EY-FICCI report on the education sector in India reveals K-12 education system in India to be one of the largest in the world more than 1.4 million schools and 250+ million students enrolled. The segment is valued at $52 billion with a market share of 52 percent. The private sector already has a 25 percent market share in the K-12 education sector with enrolments in the private schools standing around 31 percent. The K-12 school system is believed to play a crucial role in understanding the ways of life - from the beginning till maturity. Traditional classroom learning has moved beyond textbooks and blackboards. These days, there is an increasing focus on the use of digital, mobile, multimedia, smart tablets, audio-visual and experiential based study materials. K-12 school system has begun using digital education to increase awareness of new technology among students to cope up in the tech-savvy environment. Emerging digital learning formats, including management systems; interactive games are sweeping the landscape of K-12 learning, improving learning experience and outcomes. Parents, teachers, and student fraternity are steering towards the online world in urban and semi-urban India.Riding this wave, scores of entrepreneurs in India have emerged in the education space over the past few years.
