siliconindia | | December 20184Our homes are becoming small in the name of affordability, leaving us less space to decorate it as per our taste and need. Hence, the concept of heavy decoration is moving out, while minimalist interior design (minimum furniture and design) is taking the center stage. Though the term first appeared in 1960s, today, the definition of it has changed from that of sharp lines, solid surfaces, low furniture, and pastel shades to softer shapes and more colors & textures. If you are a person who likes spacious rooms and not much hassle in cleaning the house, minimalist concept is the way to go, as it offers spaciousness with less complex furniture & maintenance; less clut-ter meaning less dust, dirt & allergies, and less cleaning. Minimalist designs are also scientifically beneficial for health, as they are easy on eyes and relaxing to brains. But then, the challenge is huge for the designers, as convincing the traditional home buyers to go with minimalist designs are just like turning the bullhead. In a country like India where every piece of a furniture has its own meaning and value, this new trend will certainly take time to catch-up. With all positive hopes, interior designers have already started experimenting with this concept and have even delivered some unique projects. But minimal-ist is just a new boy in the room; designers have their own palate to pick their designs from, depending on their clients' taste.Bringing to you siliconindia Magazine's `20 Most Promising Interior Design Service Providers - 2018', we have tried to create an encyclopedia comprising some of the most eminent names from the industry while also featuring the emerging superheros, who have been successfully delivering unique design solutions to their clients.
