JULY 20224Gujarat, long praised as the land of entrepreneurs, is hovered for a new wave of commerce and, aided by technology, is getting acknowledged for its startups. Gujarat has emerged as one of the best performers among Indian states in the startup rankings 2021 released by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). It has fallen in the A category. Gujarat was ranked as the best performer for the third time in a row. Well, the result proves the state has found solutions for the country's development goals through innovative ideas and thinking. Business is a domain of Gujarat's DNA, and with cutting-edge technology, startups have become a significant part of Gujarat's landscape. While Gujarat is practically known and has grown due to its traditional businesses, it was missing the buzz regarding tech. Gujarat is working in almost every area, such as chemicals, materials, renewable energy, Industry 4.0, and traditional to digitized manufacturing. The following big ideas are coming from Mehsana, Surat, Gandhinagar or Vadodara, which we might not have thought of in terms of design, applications or customization. The Sabarmati Riverfront project is a proven example of gutsy governance, multi-year planning, and determined vision -- some of the ingredients of a successful startup. Over the past six-seven years, the government has reformed the policies and practices to help the startup ecosystem. The next wave of startups will emerge from semiconductors, electronics, space and artificial intelligence fields. Earlier, all tech giants were concentrated in a few cities of India. Today, the number has increased to ten, including Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Hence, Gujarat startups are doing outstanding work, which would undoubtedly attract several job seekers with new opportunities.
