siliconindia | | July 20184We have Indians leading the global multi-national tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and several others. A moment of pride for us!! But around a year old survey by Aspiring Minds raised an alarming concern. The report mentioned that around 95 percent of Indian engineers cannot code. So what kind of future are we venturing into? Are we perfectly raising our engineering students to be the best engineering graduates that can in time take over the world's big business houses and rule them through their innovative ideas and strategies? Probably no!We really need to shed off our primitive education system that focuses merely on bookish study while practicals and industry experiences take back seats mostly. This is certainly creating a huge gap between the academia, the graduates and the market needs. Companies spend huge chunk of monies in training these students and this naturally translates in the increased cost of production of good. Hence, the skill gap is only to grow and the numbers will surge if no proper action is taken together by the industry and the academia. While some of the engineering colleges have pumped up their curriculum and employed some of the best industry experts as their faculty, they also have transformed to provide their students international exposure through student exchange programs. Research is an integral part of the entire engineering education system. Hence, research and teaching should go hand-in-hand, whether for faculty or for students. This provides them a better platform to learn and inspire each other. In the current edition of siliconindia Education, we bring to you some of such engineering colleges who successfully translate these industry requirements on the ground to provide the best education. Our current issue of `Top 100 Engineering Colleges in India - 2018' will help you find you the perfect institute that will feed the best of both worlds (education and training) and even help you gain your plinth in the corporate world through placements.
