siliconindia | | November 201819IMPLEMENTATION OF IOT WIRELESS NETWORKS IN LARGE COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGSBy Vinay Agarwal, Managing Director of Intercraft Engineering Private Limited & Hans Van Leeuwen, Managing Partner of The Hague Tech Smart Building LabBased in Lucknow, Den Haag, Essen and other global locations, Intercraft works with Global Architects and planners for designing future proof products and solutions for Connected Lighting, Connected Buildings and Connected Cities through convergence of physical and IT networks Y es, it is kind of un-chartered territory as there are a big-ger proportion of people who challenge the possibility of using wireless networks for applications like Commercial & Industrial buildings. However, the good news is that there is sufficient evidence and experience of people who did move forward and became early movers to adopt the wireless world. If you search this topic on internet, you will be amazed to find un-believable number of platforms, events, master classes and protocols, who can educate you to the core. So, where to start if you want your design to be a winning design and reap full benefits of wireless IOT networks. First thing first, wireless gives you "Freedom of Design!!" Start with defining all the current and future need of the project with open mind, like my building should behave like personal assistant, should know me personally, welcome me where I am supposed to be in the building, politely inform where I am not sup-posed to be, guide me to nearest park-ing slot, guide me back to my parked car, organise my meetings, events and listen to me carefully for my person-al preferences etc. It should also be very careful to not waste any energy for un-used parts of building and be able to set the scenes as per mood or time of the day. In case of emergency, the building should know and warn in discrete way to people and show them nearest and safest way out, in-form fire and police and when they arrive, give them analysis, which are the areas to be reached first to save human lives and which way !! Use power of internet of other technology forums to find the applications that people use to make their buildings more friendly and smart.Once, the wishes are document-ed, start putting equipment which can fulfil these needs- sensors; elevators, boom barriers; parking management systems; active Lighting; alarm sys-tems and so on. Do not worry how these will communicate to each other. Just choose any equipment from any make, any configuration, but it must be smart enough to meet your menu of wishes. Once the equipment list is done, now comes the simplest of all the tasks in this exercise. Inform all those equipment manufacturers that you need their equipment to speak wire-lessly to the building's wireless IOT CEO INSIGHTSVinay Agarwal
