siliconindia | | November 20204Simply defined as the collection of processes, rules, standards, laws and regulations to protect the environment, company, employees and the public from harm, EHS has become an important aspect of every business today. According to data from the Labour and Employment Ministry, 3562 workers died in factory accidents across India between 2014 and 2016, and more than 51,000 injured. This works out to an average of three deaths and 47 injuries every single day. On the other hand, a 2017 study by the British Safety Council mentioned that 48,000 workers die of occupational accidents every year in India, 24 percent of which are from the construction industry. This highlights the fact that workers' life matters too. Though the government has created several laws to secure the workers lives, ground implementation needs utmost prioritization. Globally, the EHS market is expected to register a CAGR of 6.9 percent between 2020-2027, while the demand for EHS in the manufacturing industry will witness a CAGR of 6.2 percent from 2020-2027 owning to its application in the improvement of cybersecurity systems, utility systems, data centers, industrial water and wastewater treatment plants and solid waste landfills (Grand View Research). So what will drive this growth is the increasing regulations by the government in various economies. And hence the need for EHS consultants who can implement the regulations in field and even guide companies to become more safe for employees.
