siliconindia | | September 20184Termed as the world's largest health assurance scheme, Modicare aims to provide free health insurance of Rs.5 lakh per family to nearly 40 percent of the population or over 100 million poor and vulnerable families based on socio-economic caste census. Though we are aiming at better healthcare for all, the challenges remain the same - shortage of qualified medical professionals and non-availability of resources. Mere buildings and capital expenditure are not key determinants in the healthcare delivery ecosystem. We also require such professionals even to serve at the last miles of our country. Setting-up highly equipped medical/diagnostic centers without a proper hand to get results are a com-plete waste of time and money. For around 70 percent of the population residing in villages, healthcare providers are far from their reach. What could save this population is the pocket-sized diagnostic kits or cloud-based point of care diagnostic equip-ment and telemedicine solution that enable remote healthcare delivery at comprehensively low-cost. This will not only drastically reduce the diag-nosis time, but will also provide better diagnostic services at much shorter turnaround time, hence saving many lives. While many diagnostic centers are working on providing such glocal-ised healthcare solutions to the rural population, they on the other hand are serving the urban populace with cutting-edge healthcare solutions that tend to change the paradigm of the ecosystem for the better. Featuring some of such diagnostic centers in our current issue of `10 Most Promising Diagnostic Centres in Tamil Nadu - 2018', we aim to create a comprehen-sive list of such advanced diagnostic centres that provide some of the most advanced diagnostic tests for people across the urban and rural population, either by establishing a foot-network of healthcare professionals or through healthcare camps, plus cutting-edge technology.
