siliconindia | | May 20204 India's Data Generation is Witnessing new Demands in Data Centers2020 will witness the explosive growth of data will be felt like never before. We believe this is a sign of things to come, as next-generation technologies transform how we store, manage and move data. The data center will drive this disruption, and be shaped by it. Machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies will generate enormous volumes of data, which will be expensive to move. Data tonnage creates challenges in both the distribution and concentration of data. As datasets grow larger, they are testing the network requirements for analytics, AI and other data-intensive applications. At the core of the network, data gravity will create ever-larger concentrations of compute and storage resources which will mean business growth at major data center hubs. The adoption and implementation of cloud applications are still very small in India today. It is set to explode as more clients are readily accepting that cloud is the way forward to scale up their business growth and acts as a support system for various applications. Additionally, the government's decision for data localisation against storing it outside the country is also a tremendous move that adds to the data center development in India. To reap on this opportunity, big hyperscalers are already preparing the grounds for major expansion within the Indian market, aiming to further extend their new builds within colocation facilities and are seemingly showing interest to build their own facilities. The Indian datacenter industry is passing through an interesting phase. Datacenters are looking to adopt green measures like virtualization, efficient cooling, green rated equipment to increase the efficiency of the datacenter and at the same time decrease the power bill in an environment friendly and cost effective manner. For instance at CtrlS has implemented green measures and decreased the operating cost by 25% and increased the datacenter utilization by 25%. We have covered CtrlS' endeavours in detail further. This edition focuses on several more data center solution providers.
