| | September 20189to the information can be given on the need basis, generally known as segregation of duties in any establishment. Further, sharing of information between the clinics, hospitals, or the healthcare industry can be made secure through data encryption. The patient information or data theft can also lead to identity theft and used for frauds. The other major benefits of EHR are during medical emergencies, the patient information is available across the medical centres for treatment. Doctors attending the patient for the first time would have access to the patient informa-tion on medical allergies and historic illness if any. Every citizen established with a unique ID can create their own self portal with minimum required details to be shared with clinics rather than filling the paper form, thus avoiding mis-place of personal information. EMR/EHR & IT Industry: The simple formula, EMR + EHR = Big data. There are multiple software companies which have developed applications and offer the solutions as standalone. These applications work as silo to the setup establishments. The applications available are mainly EMR meeting to hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres. The main advantages of these systems are Data retrieval. However, there is no integration to EHR to make it big to the health industry. The solution offering is used more for data retrieval, but not to any analytics or regulatory submission. The industry that would benefit with such information is drug research and development. In advance research, the new molecule development is a time-taking affair, and any information that is available in digital form can draw data inferences and would reduce the timelines. Data insights would also guide the scientists on trends of disease and bacterial immunization over growth. The entire biochemistry research can be taken to the next axis. During drug research, there is lot of data getting generated in form of experiments or clinical studies. All these information is in different forms currently. EHR will be a boon to drug research and development.EHR would also help in accelerating industry with reg-ulation on employee health: For example, Pharma, Chem-icals, and Cement industry are abided by regulation that all employees working in this industry are taken care of medically and follow the defined norms. Periodic medical check-ups are done and proof of such medical check-ups are submitted during audits. Currently, all the health re-cords are stored in hardcopy. Few companies bought-in or have home grown applications that help only in monitoring the list of employee record and due date for next check-up. However, these applications are not integrated to any hospitals or diagnostic centres to have a holistic Electronic Health Record to meet and submit the regulation need.Hospitals & Financial Incentives: Again, most of top corporate hospitals have their own application with integration to major diagnostic equipment. These applications are hospitals process centric with major focus on financial accounting and human resources management. The patient information is stored more from the need of data retrieval. This data is not shared and is only for in-house use. There are financial incentives declared by the government from time-to-time for treatment of below poverty line (BPL) patients. All the current process of claiming the incentive is through manual records and papers submission in physical form. If a centralised Electronic Health Record is available, these silo systems can be integrated to have a seamless claims.Insurance: Another major industry that uses patient in-formation is the insurance sector. Today, insurance com-pany do not have any visibility on the patient medical data. Before issuing the policy, the insurer is asked to get the medical health check-up done, and the physical copies are stored. A centralised Electronic Health Record manage-ment system would improve the insurance business to be more competitive. The policy issue and fixing of premium can be made based on historic data. The claims for hospi-talisation and treatment would lead to be more transparent.Other IT benefits, medical transcription or converting the medical records from vocal to digital text, which is manual conversion, can be converted based on Voice-to-text. This will help the doctor in consultation with opera-tion theatre data being digital.e-Prescription: Once the prescriptions which are on pa-per are converted to e-prescription, digital prescription information is available on Electronic Health Record for tracking the drug consumptions and patients' trends. This would help the Pharma industry to plan the sales on actual consumption. If the data is on electronic layer, the access to the information can be given on the need basis, generally known as segregation of duties in any establishment
