siliconindia | | March 20194siliconindia | | August 201848While at school, drawing those lines using rulers, jumping every time on those weight machines to check the ticket predictions more than our weight, were quite a fun! Ther-mometers had a vital role in helping us to escape those regular class tests, as like me, many of you would also have measured your body temperature again & again just to ensure that those mercury lines cross 100 mark. And when not, we would pray and blame the instrument to be faulty. But we never realised the effort that went into making those little wooden, plastic or glass rulers or those thermometers, and even the weighing machines that were perfect.Calibration not just makes making these instruments function ac-curately as they should, but it is about ensuring that the whole world is on one system of measurement. Recently, scientists decided to change the definition of the Big K or Le Grand K, which defines the kilogram, which will be effective from May 20, 2019, as it lost around 50 micro-grams since its creation in 1889. The larger impact of this change on the calibration industry is yet to be seen, as every calibration company will need to fix their tool to perfect. This measurement technology & metrology not just compares kilogram measure value by a device under test with those of a calibra-tion standard of known accuracy, but also measurements such as volt-age, sound tone or degree, and others. With increasing quality aware-ness, protective maintenance, and strict government regulations, the calibration industry is ought to grow profoundly. A research claims that the industry will reach to $5.580 million by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 6.99 percent between 2014 and 2020. Understanding the growing need and importance of calibration in the current time, siliconindia brings to you `10 Most Promising Calibration Labs 2019', an issue dedicated to those companies who provide unmatched calibration services accordingly to international standards across industries in the most short turn-around time.
