DECEMBER 20164India is still the most preferred nation when it comes to out-sourcing business processes. But the country is getting tough competi-tion from nations like China, Malaysia and Philippines. While India has its own set of advantages, especially the cost factor, to proffer to the global companies, there are sev-eral loopholes that need to be filled instantly. For instance, Philip-pines is grabbing increasing number of Americans as its clients, thanks to its accent which is similar to the Americans, thus re-solving the communication problem which Americans mostly face with Indians who despite of adequate training are unable to change their accent fully to cope with the ever-increasing demand of the Americans. On the other hand, though India is a young country having largest pool of labour at disposal, a big portion of these are unemployable or under-skilled to be employed. According to some researches, only one out of 10 Indian graduates is employable in the Indian BPO industry, where as this number extends to three Filipinos. On the other hand, emerging BPO nations near the U.S. like Latin American region, Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, and several others are eating up a huge chunk of India's BPO business. Considering that the Asia Pacific region and the Latin American region are emerging as the frontrunners in the competition, it is time for Indian BPO sector to provide more value added services and work with these emerging nations as partners rather than viewing them as rivals. The country also needs to work on reducing the high attrition rate within the industry, overcome the marketing problems, and get feeble infrastructure. With emerging startups in this segment, the Indian BPO industry is looking high towards the government to seek more flexibility and opportunity to grab larger piece of the cake in the near future. We hope that everyone aligns their vision and work together to keep the shine of the sector intact and shine bright in the long, long days to come.
