But for long, the role of women in the architecture and design industry has been largely overlooked due to gender discrimination. Thanks to the professional organizations and the emerging startups led by women architects, the industry is witnessing a new dawn. Their creative ideas and strong knowledge base play important role in enabling them stand strong among their male counterparts. But then, there is something more that the Indian women hold; it is their love, care and compassion towards the home that their parents infuse in them since childhood. This is why when women architects and designers create a house; it is more than just the concrete. It is the reflection of pure self, delivering exactly what the customers want. Today, they are designing some of the world's most admired landmark building, while still silently fighting a war against the gender discrimination. This surely means putting extra efforts and delivering more than expected to prove oneself. But I believe that in the years to come, they will level the ground for other women architects and designers to play their game smoothly.
