Manjrasoft Pty Ltd

Manjrasoft Pty Ltd

Manjrasoft is an exciting spin-off company commercialising novel software technologies originally developed in the Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory at The University of Melbourne.  It was founded in early 2008 by veteran IT practitioners who have dedicated their careers to Utility, Distributed and Cloud Computing. Manjrasoft's founder and CEO, Dr.Rajkumar Buyya, is a globally recognized thought leader in the field of Distributed, Grid and Cloud Computing, and has immense industry knowledge and strong personal links to key industry players (such as Microsoft ,CA and IBM) in the research and product architecture/management domains. His efforts have resulted in numerous awards such as "2009 IEEE Medal for Excellence in Scalable Computing" for pioneering distributed and Cloud computing utility models to deliver business solutions.

Since its launch in 2008, Manjrasoft is focused on the creation of innovative software technologies for simplifying the development and deployment of applications on enterprise or public Clouds. They have developed a software system, called Aneka, which plays the role of Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS) for Cloud Computing. Aneka supports various programming models and tools for rapid creation of applications and their seamless deployment on private or public Clouds. They have recently enhanced Aneka technology to support integrated use of both private and public Clouds such as Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure wherein customers can seamlessly lease “extra” capability from public Clouds whenever their private Cloud is unable to meet their computing power requirements.

They sell their Aneka software technology to enterprises and research organizations and enable their creation of Cloud applications and their deployment on in-house Clouds. They are partnered with industry leaders such as Microsoft, HP, and Amazon to develop converged infrastructure. They integrate with Cloud IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) providers to ensure the availability of Aneka platform on a PAYG-basis. This enables their customers to run their applications either on private or public Clouds. Thus proven flexibility and agility required for easy development and deployment of elastic and scalable applications on Clouds using multiple programming models at substantially lower cost of implementation and operation.

Current Market Landscape

India is a country with full of opportunities. There is a huge scope for developing Cloud applications in areas such as health care by integrating health sensors, mobiles, and Clouds and delivering them as services at lower costs.

Addressing the Challenges

India needs software engineers and developers with skills in rapid creation of applications by minimising the cost of software engineering and delivering their services to consumers at lower-cost. Their flagship product, Aneka, is perfectly geared towards that. Manjrasoft has recently released Aneka 4.0 version with robust and reliable features that support the rapid creation and deployment of elastic Cloud and Big Data applications on private/enterprise (in-house) Clouds and public Clouds such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.

They also developed educational resources that help Indian educational institutions in mounting Cloud Computing curriculum or courses with hands-on-experience.

Services

Manjrasoft  assist our clients in (1) in creation of enterprise Clouds using our Aneka Cloud Application Platform and (2) train the trainers on foundations of Cloud computing and application programming. They also guide their clients (educational institutions) in formulation of content for both theoretical and laboratory subjects so that next-generation software engineers they produced as fully grounded in theory and practice.

Differentiating Factors

Manjrasoft’s Aneka is the “world-first” Cloud Application Platform supports (1) multiple programming models such as Task, Thread, and MapReduce and tools for rapid development of applications, (2) seamless integration of multiple distributed computing resources including private and public Clouds, and (3) elastic scaling of applications on multiple Clouds depending on customers’ Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, which are part of SLA (Service Level Agreement) in market-based Cloud computing environments.

To enable customers to quickly upgrade skills, they make available a book "Mastering Cloud Computing" published by McGraw Hill, China Machine Press, and Morgan Kaufmann for Indian, Chinese and international markets respectively. This book serving as a text book for Cloud computing courses offered by Universities world-wide including India, China, USA, Brazil, Europe. The availability of graduates with skills in Cloud application programming using Aneka platform is a great asset for IT companies as they will be able to immediately deploy their new employees in building Cloud applications rapidly at low cost.
