BANGALORE: Twenty-five years ago only a few households had a personal computer, and the internet as we know was a newborn. But that not the case now, as rise of the internet, advances in medicine and green technology have spawned all sorts of new jobs and these jobs now exist in a variety of settings, from independent to large.
Here is a list of jobs that evolved over the past 25 years and arguably didn't exist—or didn't exist in the same form or to a significant extent, as reported by CNBC.
Social Media Manager
The social media manager might not have its own designation yet, but emergence of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram has made it an important asset for businesses to driveleads and boost sales over the internet.
The Social Media Manager is an individual who implements the company’s social media marketing and administers content strategy, develop brand awareness, generate inbound traffic and cultivate leads and sales.
Linda Barrington, executive director of the Institute for Compensation Studies said, "Anything that has to do with social media, companies having a social media strategist—that was a job that never existed, because there was no social media."

Keep aside the job profession but in 1989 most of us would have not even heard what E-commence was—thanks to the coming age of the World Wide Web.

Dino Grigorakakis, vice president of recruiting for Randstad Technologies, said, "A lot of companies really want to be enabled in the mobile platform." “Banks, job board businesses, newspapers—just about anybody you can think of that has a website that gets a lot of traffic—want their websites to function on tablets.” He further added, "There's an extreme shortage of these people, and often customers have to go to consulting firms because they're the only people that have skills available."

Big-Data Analyst
Big Data is in and there is no denying that this field as taken to the extreme within no time in the recent past.
While a Big Data scientist needs various capabilities and skills to analyze various data sources, a big data analyst on the other hand performs data analysis on a particular system only. In short, a Big Data analyst is some sort of an assistant to the Big Data scientist.
Grigorakakis said, “These occupations have taken off like crazy in the last two or three years, explaining that "this skill set is extremely hard to find. This is a skill set that definitely didn't exist 25 years ago; it didn't even exist five years ago."
Cloud-Computing Workers
Just as cloud computing has been a game-changer for many companies; it is also changing the nature of jobs—not only within the information technology department, but in other parts of the enterprise as well.
Cloud computing professional will provide expertise, design, engineering, troubleshooting of the cloud environment and collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure that the best practices are followed and applied.
"Cloud computing is enabling companies to do more with their IT spending than they could have 10 years ago because they don't have to put out huge capital investment," said Grigorakakis. "For small start-ups, the cloud has been huge."

Not an entirely new job, but it is expected to boom in coming years as several governments are trying to integrate drones into airspace systems and industries seek to use them for commercial purposes.

3-D Printing Professionals
It's unclear what new occupations may emerge in this emerging industry, or whether existing jobs from other industries will change, but the 3-D Printing profession is all set to be the next game changer in the tech world.
Even though most of it is done by itself, the creation of 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes, and this process need professionals who will ensure that the entire process is achieved.
Along with this profession there is also equal opportunity for a 3-D production repair technician and process-development engineer who help to develop 3-D printing systems and processes involving new materials.
Wind Turbine Service Technicians
As wind turbines use unending power of air currents to create electrical energy, these devices depend on technicians for regular servicing and repair. Wind turbine technician also known as wind techs are the professionals who diagnose and fix problems with turbines. Most preferably these individuals work on wind farms that gather several turbines into a central location.
"Because wind-electricity generation is expected to grow over the coming decade, additional technicians will be needed to install and maintain new turbines. Job prospects should be excellent for qualified candidates," said the BLS.
